Brody Bourgeois

Brody’s earliest childhood memories are of growing up across the street from the Meat Market and running over to poke at the cows with his many cousins and older brothers on the days before they would be slaughtered. He and his brothers dreamed of working at the Market some day and being butchers like their dad (Lester “Biff” Bourgeois Jr.) and Grandpa (Lester “Pawpaw” Bourgeois Sr.) and often talked about their plans for the future which always involved the Meat Market.

In 2003, after graduating high school, Brody joined the Marine Corps where he served on active duty for 4 years with an overseas deployment to Iraq in 2005. In 2009, he enlisted in the Marine Reserves where he continues to serve. In 2023, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major and currently serves as the Squadron SgtMaj for MWSS-473 headquartered in Miramar, CA. In 2010, he earned an Associate of Applied Sciences Degree from Delgado Community College and worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant for over 10 years before coming to work fulltime at the Market. He continues to keep his license current and works part-time as a PTA throughout Terrebonne and Lafourche Parish primarily in home health.

In 2021, after over a decade of focusing primarily on the rehabilitation of muscles, bones, and joints, Brody decided it was time to get a closer look at these soft tissues and structural elements of the body and he inquired about a full-time position as a butcher with Bourgeois Meat Market. And he has been with us ever since. He has made it clear since day one that his intentions are to have his children working alongside him as they grow older and they can occasionally be seen sweeping the floors or bagging for the customers at the check-out counter here at our Thibodaux location. Brody has made it no secret that his love of family is why he is here and why he plans to stay; however, he has also made it very clear that he likes Terrell Barrow, the head butcher at the Gray location, more than any of us…even his cousins! Sometimes we wonder if they’re related too.

Brody and his wife Abbie live in Schriever with their four children: Isabelle, Mr. Charles, Titus, and Jacob. Giving in to the cultish pressure of his cousins, Brody also trains Jiu-Jitsu at Next Generation Martial Arts in Thibodaux and is currently a purple belt. His other “hobbies” include spending over 6 years (and counting) building a house.
